A Worked Example: Selecting Clips from a Product Demo

Use a hypothetical three-minute demo to compare clip candidates without inventing customer results.

Content reviewed: 2026-10-02.

This is a hypothetical editing exercise, not a customer case study or measured product result. You can perform it with any editor; it does not require access to Veckit's processing service.

Set the source and purpose

Imagine a three-minute demonstration of a desk lamp. The speaker explains brightness, shows the folding hinge, and compares desk space before and after. The intended audience is someone deciding whether the lamp fits a small workspace.

The clip should answer one question. Do not combine three incomplete answers just to fill a duration target.

Mark candidate ranges

The times below are invented for this exercise.

CandidateExample source rangeReview question
Brightness demonstration00:18–00:47Can the camera show the change honestly?
Folding hinge01:05–01:38Are the hands and hinge visible in a vertical crop?
Desk-space comparison02:02–02:43Are both comparison conditions explained?

For each range, listen before and after the boundary. Keep a qualification that changes the meaning. Reject a clip if it cannot stand alone without adding substantial context.

Choose one passage and create a rough cut

Start with the hinge example. Play it in a vertical preview. If the hands are off-center, a center crop may hide the demonstration. Adjust in your editor or retain a wider presentation rather than pretending the crop follows the subject.

Check captions against the audio. Do not translate a technical part name until you know what it refers to. Use a neutral title such as “How the folding hinge changes desk space,” rather than a promise not supported by the footage.

Verify the export

Open the downloaded file. Confirm that it contains only the selected demonstration, captions begin on the clip timeline, audio is audible, and the last frame does not cut off an explanation.

Use the caption and crop checklist for sign-off. For TikTok or Instagram, upload with the destination platform's tools and review its preview and visibility settings.

Record what the exercise taught you

Note why you selected or rejected each candidate and how long review took. If you publish, examine the platform's actual reports later. Do not turn this hypothetical example into a claimed saving, testimonial, or guaranteed reach figure.
